Responsible Gambling at Stake UK
Stake is committed to promoting safer gambling for every customer on our platform and across our wider community. Stake Casino works to make sure players understand the responsible gambling tools available to them, treat gambling as entertainment rather than a way to make money, and feel equipped to make informed choices about how they play.
6 Ways to Keep Your Gambling in Check
- Make time for other hobbies and activities alongside gambling.
- Decide on a budget and a time limit before you start a session.
- Never gamble with money you can’t afford to lose.
- Take time to understand the odds and the risks involved.
- Recognise the point where gambling stops being fun, and walk away.
- Use loss and wager limits to help stay in control.
House Edge
Every game carries a built-in house edge — a percentage of total stakes that’s retained by the casino over time.
Randomness
Gambling outcomes are random by nature. No player or system can influence the result of a casino game or a sports event.
Independent Outcomes
Each spin or round stands on its own. Past results have no bearing on future ones, regardless of how much or how long you’ve played.
Odds and Probability
Odds give you a sense of your winning chances, but low odds are never a guarantee — betting always carries uncertainty.
Our Responsible Gambling Tools
Gambling should stay fun. To help with that, Stake offers a set of tools you can use whenever you need them.
Play for fun, not for funds.
Setting Limits
Loss Limits
A loss limit caps how much you’re allowed to lose over a chosen period — daily, weekly or monthly. It works on a net basis, so any profit made during that window doesn’t count against the limit, and you can keep playing with winnings until the limit is hit. Unsettled bets also count towards your total, so check your open bets if you’re unexpectedly blocked from wagering.
Wager Limits
A wager limit sets a ceiling on how much you can stake within a set period (daily, weekly or monthly). Unlike loss limits, this one isn’t net-based — profits don’t offset it.
Lowering a limit takes effect straight away. Raising one comes with a 24-hour cooling-off period before it kicks in.
Deposit Limits
Deposit limits let you control how much you can add to your account over a given period, giving you more oversight of your spending.
- Fiat deposits: set a daily cap — once reached, further deposits are blocked until the next reset. Limits are set in USD.
- Crypto deposits: any amount deposited above your set limit goes into a withholding balance and stays locked until your daily limit resets, at which point an equivalent amount is released. Stake currently only supports daily limits for crypto deposits.
Setting a Deposit Limit:
- Go to Responsible Gambling > Deposit Limits.
- Select ‘Add Limit’.
- Enter your chosen amount.
- Confirm by clicking ‘Add Limit’.
You can set, raise, lower or remove a deposit limit at any time. Setting or lowering a limit is immediate; raising or removing one triggers a 24-hour cooling-off period. Note: deposit limits only affect deposits — they don’t restrict wagers or losses (use wager/loss limits for that).
Product Exclusion
You can block yourself from either Casino or Sports individually. Once set, the exclusion applies immediately for your chosen duration and can’t be lifted early through self-service. For indefinite exclusions, you can ask customer support to reverse it at any time.
Available durations: 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or indefinite.
How to set it: Go to Responsible Gambling > Product Exclusion > choose Casino or Sports > pick a duration > follow the remaining steps.
This is separate from full self-exclusion, which locks your entire account rather than a single product.
Self-Exclusion
If you feel at risk of, or already struggling with, a gambling problem, self-exclusion suspends access to your whole account.
Only an indefinite period is available. Once set, your account stays locked until you actively request a review. Indefinite self-exclusion carries a mandatory minimum of 6 months; after that, reactivation is possible but subject to a formal review. To start that process, contact [email protected].
Break in Play
For a shorter pause — to reset, save money, or just do something else for a while — Stake offers temporary account suspension for 1 day, 1 week or 1 month.
Note: Stake also reserves the right to apply self-exclusion to an account if it determines gambling isn’t safe for that customer to continue.
Setting a self-exclusion: Go to the Stake Smart Self-Exclusion page > select ‘Request Self-Exclusion’ > choose your timeframe from the dropdown > click ‘Next’ > confirm.
Your account can’t be reactivated before the chosen period ends, and indefinite exclusions require a minimum 6-month wait before review.
Closing Your Account
You’re free to close your Stake account whenever you choose — whether you’ve lost interest in gambling, your circumstances have changed, you’d rather spend time on other things, or for any other reason.
How to close it: Log in > go to Responsible Gambling > select Account Closure > follow the prompts > confirm your request and reason.
Reopening a closed account: Contact support via chat or email ([email protected]). Reopening requests are subject to a mandatory 24-hour cooling-off period from closure, and your account stays inaccessible until that period passes and your request is reviewed. Stake may run internal checks before deciding, and reserves the right to keep an account closed indefinitely or to close any account at its own discretion.

Protecting Minors

Advice for parents:
- Don’t leave gambling software running unattended on a shared computer.
- Password-protect your casino account and software.
- Never let a minor take part in gambling activity.
- Keep account numbers and payment cards away from minors.
- Avoid saving passwords on shared devices.
- Limit children’s time online and use software to filter inappropriate content.
Blocking Software
Third-party site blockers can help restrict access to gambling platforms, whether for your own protection or to safeguard a minor in your household:
- Betblocker — betblocker.org.
- Net Nanny — parental controls and site/app blocking, at netnanny.com.
- Gamblock — mobile app blocking thousands of gambling sites, at gamblock.com.
Stake accepts no liability for third-party software.
